- Sit down with your child and discuss the issues at school. See what your child has to say on the situation, and create
effective dialogue.
- Be proactive and not reactive. Create a plan and set it into motion. Screaming and punishing may not be the best solution
- Contact the school. See if teachers notice anything about your child’s performance and can offer suggestions.
- Offer your child possible and achievable rewards for success. Mutually create a contract that will allow the child to see the
benefits of hard work.
- Look at past performance. If these types of grades are a pattern, see what the possible reasons are for performance
trends during the year.
- Have your child use an agenda on a daily basis. Try to create a system with the school to have it initialed both by
teachers and parents. This will help with work completion and long-term planning issues.
- On a weekly basis, help your child organize school materials.
